  2. understand that they should never give out private information on the Internet
  3. learn to create effective user names that protect their private information
Students discuss what information they should keep private. With a partner students interview each other to come up with safe user names that do not include private info but are easy to remember because they are based on their interests (favorite pet/animal, tv show, book, favorite numbers).

Student verified that their transportation pic and URL is working and saved to their favpla doc. Students saved their transportation picture to their home dir. Demo'ed PhotoStory3:  importing pics, removing black borders, recording naration and saving project.

Reminded students about procedures used to record using microphone. Students printed scripts as needed for PhotoStory voice-over.  Most students used microphones to record narration. Some students worked complete required project components (pic files of fav place and transportation, finished fav place script saved as favpla 2 hof, favpla word doc with URL of fav place and transportation and pics of fav place and transportation).  A few students added music, worked on music and slide transitions (FYI... these students did this through knowledge learned from previous 4th grade PhotoStory projects. These students were encouraged to help others to add these extra elements).

Students returned to image online and saved image to their home directory (labeled with the name of their fav place).  After closing internet and favpla doc, students opened their home dir and verified that both items were complete and in their home dir. Demo'ed favorite place script.  Explained how to find, complete and save script (favpla2). Students worked on script during remaining time.

      • Next time -- Demo photo story.  Maybe add picture of transportation or another pic of activity at fav place.
      Hilgers' Class -- Innisbrook Fundraiser (See Monday, September 24),
      Working on Favorite Place (Day 2 -- very brief due to Innisbrook) Students searched for and located a full size image of their favorite place.  Students opened and saved a word doc as favpla hil. Students copied the URL of the fav place image and pasted it in their favpla doc. Students copied and pasted fav place image into favpla doc below its URL.  Students saved their fav place image to their home directory (labeled with the name of their fav place).
      • Next time -- Check and verify fav place doc has working URL and image.  Check and verify that the image is saved there as well. Create script for fav place project.
       Nixon's Class --Working on Name pic
      Students reviewed shut down process because during their last visit  ALL were left on! (9/7/2012).  Demo'ed creating name pic and explained the importance of saving into their home dir correctly with proper file name. Students created name pic at individual workstations.Students saved their finish picture to their home dir as "name nix"
      • Next time -- Show Nixon Slideshow Students will share their name pics complete with bows and applauded for each student's hard work. Students will learn to use basic tools in MS Word 2007.
