Shannon's Class -- Protecting yourself from cyberbullies and Using Voki
Students used voki.com to create talking avatars to explain how they can be an upstantder.  Students posted their voki upstander and participated in Mrs. Bryant quiz about their animal research.  After they had earned a badge on "Share Jumpers" and E-volve, students logged into Digital Passport and used Search Shark to learn how use keywords to search for information online.
  • Next Time:  Catch up day... Complete animal project progress quiz, avatars and 3 Digital Passport badges.
Hilgers' Class -- Info Text PowerPoint (Day 2)
Students used Mrs. Hilgers' powerpoint template (volcanoes) as a guide to create their individual powerpoint. Students learn to customize their PowerPoint and save their PowerPoint as jpegs.

Reminded students about procedures used to record using microphone. Students printed scripts as needed for PhotoStory voice-over.  Most students used microphones to record narration. Some students worked complete required project components (pic files of fav place and transportation, finished fav place script saved as favpla 2 hof, favpla word doc with URL of fav place and transportation and pics of fav place and transportation).  A few students added music, worked on music and slide transitions (FYI... these students did this through knowledge learned from previous 4th grade PhotoStory projects. These students were encouraged to help others to add these extra elements).
  • Next Time:  Students will need to finish recording. Review and/or demo adding music, changing movement and adding transition.  Review and/or demo saving project as well as movie file

Students continued to work on favorite place script (saved as favpla 2 fau). Students located and saved a pic of the transportation used to arrive at their fav place.  Students added transportation pic's URL and a copy of pic to favpla.

Students watched  Nixon Slideshow. Students shared their name pics complete with bows and applauded for each student's hard work. Students learned to use basic tools in MS Word 2007 including:

  • Center Align
  • Color, size and font change
  • Cut, copy and paste

Shannon's Class -- Working on Favorite Place (Day 3)
Demo photo story.  Maybe add picture of transportation or another pic of activity at fav place. Students tested link in "favpla sha" doc and added image. Students returned to image online and saved image to their home directory (labeled with the name of their fav place).  After closing internet and favpla doc, students opened their home dir and verified that both items were complete and in their home dir. Demo'ed favorite place script.  Explained how to find, complete and save script (favpla2). Students worked on script during remaining time.

      Hale's Class -- Working on Favorite Place (Day 2)
      Demo'ed favorite place script.  Explained how to find, complete and save script (favpla2). Students worked on script for about 15 mins. Students will search and locate an image of the transportation they use to arrive at their favorite place. Students opened favpla doc and added URL and pic of transportation used to go to their favorite place.

      • Next Time:  Student verify that their transportation pic and URL is working and saved to their favpla doc. Students will save their transportation picture to their home dir.
      Hoffert's Class -- Working on Favorite Place (Day 2)
      Students reviewed their favpla2 scripts and verified whether or not their script is finished.  Students will search and locate a picture of the transportation used to arrive at fav place.  Students added  transportation image info (pic and URL) to favpla doc and saved image to home directory. Review/Demo how to use PhotoStory. Students imported pics into PhotoStory. Students removed black borders as needed and/or at their discretion. Students saved PhotoStory project as favpla hof.
