Celebration because 1st class to bring back all of their Web 2.0 Permission Forms. 
  •  Next Time: Join Mrs. Hilgers' SS group. Nature Works Final day Students will reflect on what they experienced during this group project through written expression.  Students will use a word processor to create a paragraph about what they experienced.  Some of the questions to ponder will include:
  1. What would you do differently?
  2. How did each person (including yourself) in your group contribute?
  3. What worked well or not so well during this project?
  4. What should Ms. Reid do differently?
Faulhaber's Class --  "NC County" Project (Day 5)

Reviewed how to save PowerPoint slides as jpegs.  Students learned how to import their slides into VoiceThread.  Students continued working with their partner or by themselves to collect info about their assigned county for this project.  Students, who had previously started creating their PowerPoint, continued to work on their PowerPoint.  When the other students finished collecting all of the need info, they started creating their NC County PowerPoints. 
  •  Next Time:  Students will finish creating their PowerPoint, importing their slides into Voicthread and adding their voiceovers.

Students reviewed how to access Edmodo while using Firefox (Note:  Edmodo works best in Firefox because WCPSS uses an older version of Internet Explorer). Students joined school group, grade level group and homeroom group.

Roberts' Class --  Nature Works (Day 1)
Students choose one of 6 different videos from Nature Works to view.  Students created a document where they recorded what they knew about the topic they choose.  Students watched their choosen video.  After watching, students formed a group with other students who had watched the same video and discussed what they had learned from the video.  Students reflected on today's experience by participating in a survey.
  •  Next Time:  Students will watch their video a 2nd time while they take detailed notes.  Students will use these notes to present their topic to classmates.  
Lee's Class --  NC County Project (Day 1)

Students watched Randolph County example.  Students chose a partner to work with or chose to work alone to complete this project.  Some students chose a county they wanted to research.  If they didn't have a county in mind, it was choosen at random.  Demo'ed finding info using specific websites (NC Home Locator, NC Pedia and Google Maps NOTE:  couldn't use US Census due to government shutdown).  Students worked with their partner to collect information about their specific county from the specific websites.
  •  Next Time:  NC County Project  Students will finish collecting information about their county and start their PowerPoint.

Students learned to use a few basic tools in MS Word 2007. Students wrote 4-5 sentences

Students continued working with their partner or by themselves to complete this project.  Reviewed how to find info from the websites (NC Home Locator, US Census, NC Pedia and Google Maps).  Demo'ed how to create the NC County PowerPoint using the info listed on the PBWiki for 4th Grade.  When they finished collecting all of the need info, students started creating their NC County PowerPoints.
  •  Next Time:  NC County Project  Students will finish collecting information about their county and continue to create their PowerPoint.

Roberts' Class --  Catch-Up Day

Students watched their classes "Who We Are" Voicethread.  Reviewed what finished Mad Money spending and earnings graphs look.  If needed, students completed their "Who We Are" voicethread or Mad Money graphs.  Students, who were finished with voicethread and graphs, viewed other 5th grade classes voicethreads, started creating their own voicethread (of their choice) or practiced keyboarding using Type to Learn.
  •  Next Time:  Edmodo -- joining Edmodo and Edmodo groups.
Stangler's Class --   "NC County" Project

Students watched their class' "Initial" Voicethread.  If needed, students recorded their name and something that most people didn't know about themselves in their class' "Initial" Voicethread.  Students, who were finished with their recording, created a picture in paint, chose a program from good choice folder (these include Code Cracker, Making Connections, or Uncle Fred's How to Draw") or  watched other 3rd grade classes voicethreads
