Monroe's Class --  Nature Works (Day 1)
Students choose one of 6 different videos from Nature Works to view.  Students created a document where they recorded what they knew about the topic they choose.  Students watched their choosen video.  After watching, students formed a group with other students who had watched the same video and discussed what they had learned from the video.  Students reflected on today's experience by participating in a survey.
  •  Next Time:  Students will watch their video a 2nd time while they take detailed notes.  Students will use these notes to present their topic to classmates.  
Hale's Class --  "Who We Are" Voicethread Project Presentation and NC County Project (Day 1)

Students watched "Who We Are" Voicethread. Students watched Randolph County example.  Students chose a partner to work with or chose to work alone to complete this project.  Some students chose a county they wanted to research.  If they didn't have a county in mind, it was choosen at random.  Demo'ed finding info using specific websites (NC Home Locator, NC Pedia and Google Maps NOTE:  couldn't use US Census due to government shutdown).  Students worked with their partner to collect information about their specific county from the specific websites.
  •  Next Time:  NC County Project  Students will finish collecting information about their county and start their PowerPoint. 
Reynolds' Class -- Initial Voicethread Project Presentation and Basic Word Processing (Day 1)
Students watched their class' "Initial" Voicethread.  Students learned to use a few basic tools in MS Word 2007. Students wrote 4-5 sentences

  2. I am ___ years old.
  3. I am in ____________'s class.
  4. I live in _______________.
Students saved their file to their home directory as basic (1st 3 letters in teacher's name) (their initials)
  • Next time: Demo basic tools in MS Word 2007. Some of the items to be covered include:
  1. Ribbons to access tools (home, insert, view, etc.)
  2. Changing font:  style, type, size, color, high lighting
  3. Selecting All
  4. Cut, Copy and Paste
  5. Aligning -- Left, Center and Right with examples of justified
